Services Update 2021.01 | Cast Storage | Repeat Orders

As an essential business, PPL has continued to operate as normal throughout this difficult period. In the coming weeks, we will be making structural changes to our factory in Cork to further accommodate physical distancing to keep our staff safe. To make the necessary space to achieve this, we have taken the decision to no longer retain customers’ plaster cast moulds for repeats of handmade casted devices, effective from February 2021.
This change does not affect CAD CAM Casted Orthoses as we retain the 3D design file of all orders. This enables us to continue to offer a 20% discount on all repeat pairs of CAD CAM Casted Orthoses.
As part of our Quality process, we will continue to hold plaster casts for 1 month/6 weeks for the purpose of alterations.
We have been retaining plaster cast moulds for 6 month periods following the completion of Handmade Custom Casted Orthoses, enabling repeat orders within that period. Following a sales analysis, we have found that less than 1% of the moulds which we retain are used for repeat orders. Therefore, we feel this is the most practical solution to our current facilities requirements.
We will be discarding plaster cast moulds which are currently in storage (orders placed since July 2020) in the coming weeks. If you would like any of these moulds which you feel may be required for future repeat orders returned to you, please contact sales@pplbiomechanics.com with the order details by Wednesday the 3rd February and we will arrange this for you. Please note postage and package charges will apply.
